Many have asked me why I took time away from managing and growing companies to write a children's book. After all, it's definitely not as easy as one might think and in many instances, more difficult than writing a book targeting adults. There are really just two reasons I decided to write a children's book: 1) I couldn't find many books that captured the entrepreneurial spirit of children and translated it into inspiring stories they could learn from and 2) there were NO books that did this for children in the African-American community. I thought, "it would be great if we can tell really great stories about an entrepreneurial hero that saves the urban community by coming up with really good business ideas". That was the genesis of Sammy Startup.
